Our Story
CHAPTER 1: getting started
We didn’t really intend to be farmers but it was definitely what was meant for us
We were living in Lancaster working full-time jobs, spending every day we could hiking and being in nature. we rented a house out side the city and grew a large garden, we grew too much, started doing a farmers market. The next step only made sense, we purchased a few old laying hens and started selling eggs.
Things snowballed from there.
CHAPTER 2: the best damn eggs
That backyard flock became Horse Shoe Ranch, our farm where we raise pastured eggs and sell them all over Pennsylvania and New York, along with a small herd of grass-fed beef. It’s just down the road from the feed supply.
The idea for the store was born because running the farm gave us plenty of opportunity to try all the tools and spend a decade learning about livestock and plants.
What’s on our shelves is only the stuff that made the cut.
CHAPTER 3: horse shoe feed & supply
We wanted more ways to invest in our community. When we started farming, there wasn’t really a place to walk in and ask questions, so we built the store we would’ve shopped at.
Feed, seed, tools—all the supplies we use ourselves, plus straight answers when you need them.
Stop in, we’re around!
